Sheps first opened its Doors in September of 2014 …in the basement of what once was Nolan’s Department Store, becoming the first brewery in Auburn since prohibition. From those humble beginnings, we opened our doors at our new location at 132 Genesee Street after purchasing what most locals know as the “PB & J building,” turning a shuttered clothing store into a thriving small business with fans and followers across the United States. The newly-christened “Great Life” building has been described as one of the three best known structures in Auburn along with the Phoenix and Bank of America Buildings. We have researched for years, yet the age of the building something of a local mystery, with the structure appearing in photographs from as far back as the 1930’s. If you or someone you know has any pictures of the building, we would love to see them; especially anything from before the early 1930’s.
