The historic Schlafly Highland Square was officially established in late 2021 as we looked to expand our community-focused brewpub philosophy and continue our doctrine of transforming buildings into popular destinations. But its history strecthes back even further than our occupancy. In 1891, Highland Bank was established and began operations in hte building. Soon after, in 1903, it converted to the First National Bank of Highland. Over a century earlier, the Schlafly family immigrated from Switzerland and made their way up the Mississippi river from New Orleans to set roots in Highland. Just like Schlafly ancestors previously, Schlafly Beer today is dedicated to establishing community.
